Riverfront Fishing Cottage Reviews

July 8, 2016

Wonderful cabin — We absolutely love this cabin!!!! We had stayed there 12 years ago when our children were little and we have been wanting to go back. Did not disappoint. So beautiful and restful listening to the waterfall.

The property was all that was advertised, wonderful place – The house was outstanding. Very nice and well equipped for cooking, inside and out. We had wonderful dinners over our six night stay. Sitting on the beautiful screened porch listening to the river was the best part. There is something wrong with the chaise lounge on the porch. Every time I sat in it, the chair made me doze off! While our son fished, my wife and I made numerous excursions – hikes at DuPont State Park, pottery shopping, downtown Brevard and Sierra Nevada Brewery. My son had more luck fishing the East Fork River in front of the house than the renown Davidson River. Just a 3/4 mile walk from the house is a 5′ high waterfall. We read our books on a rock and watched the kids play in the waterfall. Very relaxing vacation. Highly recommended.

Quiet Clean, adequate to luxury ammenities, well managed, great access to river for fly fishing – My wife and I would recommend for a quiet and restful get away to recheck from the everyday stresses of Life and work. We stayed for 6 days and fly fished for 6 days. We cooked all meals @ cottage and wandered off the mountain only twice for supplies and roadside picnics. The outdoor grill made it a pleasure cooking out and we nightly took advantage of. Jimmy & Karen

We stayed for 5 days and had a wonderful experience! The house is exactly as the pictures show…beautiful. Many personal touches are added to the house to make it a special place. Top of the line appliances both inside and outside. The outdoor fireplace was our favorite…was so nice to sit next to the fire at night while listening to the river. Jim was very helpful in recommending local restaurants (which were delicious) and an amazing fly fishing guide company in town. We loved the town and the waterfalls! It was a very memorable trip and we look forward to coming back and staying at the River Cottage again!

A very nice place to stay…a beautiful blend of nature and convenience. It helped that we had beautiful weather…we enjoyed the deck and the screened porch…sat in front of a fire there…listened to the music of the river. Countless opportunities to hike and Brevard supplied some very nice small shops and places to eat. The cabin itself…clean and cozy and nicely decorated and very well equipped! My husband is a fly-fisherman and he enjoyed the area and has been to Wyoming, Colorado, the Au Sable and the Smokies and Penn’s Creek to name a few areas for our fishing and cabin adventures…so…we will return when we are able for sure!

Seeing the pictures, I knew we had to come and stay, and we are very happy we did. Grilling and eating on the deck, spending time on the porch and sleeping to the sounds of the river -unbeatable. Comfortable furniture and beds with very nice linens. Great small kitchen with the oven also convection, dehydrator, bread proofer and warmer! Fun walks on the road seeing all the fly fishermen catching trout – bring waders! A fly rod waits for you in the closet on the porch. The town of Brevard so close – love that it is small town America yet so much to do with great restaurants, shopping and the music festival. And close to great hiking and biking in the parks with surprisingly not many people. Last but not least – incredible waterfalls in this “land of waterfalls”. A great intro to our move to Brevard. Five stars!!

Trout fishing right in front of cabin, hummingbirds on deck, too many good things to mention. It was also close to restaurants in brevard. We really loved it, thanks. Our phones didn’t work at all so might be worth a long distance card if you’ll need to make non-local calls

We had a great time here-the sound of rushing water, great amenities, including screened porch with fireplace overlooking the East Fork river made for a really relaxing experience. I thought this cabin was better stocked and more tastefully decorated than other rentals we have experienced.

My wife and I stayed here while in the area looking for a retirement home (we found one!). The cottage was perfect, with quality furnishings throughout. As we’re both avid fly fishers, we rented this place hoping to get in a bit of fishing when not out with the real estate agent. We did manage to get fish on a couple of days, and found the rainbow, brown and brook trout very cooperative. Our favorite part of the cottage had to be the evenings we spent in front of the outdoor fireplace, listening to the sounds of river down below. Note that there is a road along the river (between the cottage and the river), but despite the number of other fishermen we saw as we drove along the river, we did not find the traffic to be an issue.
